Member of Parliament for St. Philip South Indar Weir has given his support to a Resolution for the Vesting and Disposal of Crown Lands at Dodds Plantation.
The lands, formerly earmarked for the Ministry of Home Affairs, are now intended to be used for the construction of some houses and lot creation for the squatters at Gemswick, St. Philip, as well as to provide housing for others in the parish who cannot qualify for a mortgage.
Minister Weir says the project will bring relief to many.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams says his Ministry is happy to give way to Government’s priorities.
He says the matter of security was raised given the proximity to Dodds Prison but that issue has been addressed.
