Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security, Indar Weir is reporting high interest for photovoltaics (PV) and wind turbine Projects on island.
He says marginal lands allowed to go fallow are now being targeted.
The revelation was made during a forum for Small Island Developing States at the ongoing World Food Forum in Italy.
He says the queue is long for renewable energy in agriculture.
He touted the benefits including a reduction in the overall energy costs along with the heavy reliance on fossil fuels.
Mr. Weir adds opportunities also exist in the region for investments in irrigation.
