Government continues to pursue its plan to provide a better working environment for employees within the country’s most important sector.
As such, it is now closer to introducing legislation which establishes minimum rates and conditions for tourism and hospitality workers.
Labour Minister Colin Jordan, provided the update during the Debate.
The move is one of the key tenets of the Labour Clauses Concessions Act, which could result in concessions being revoked if a business does not comply with the legislation.
Mr. Jordan says Government is still exploring the possibility of rolling-out paid paternity leave.
He is also making a case for provisions to be made in the workplace for breastfeeding mothers.
