Government Senators signal approval for Bill

Government Senators have signalled their approval for the Criminal Justice (Plea Negotiations and Agreements) Bill, 2024.

The Legislation was introduced in a bid to increase the speed at which criminal cases move through the justice system.

Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment, Senator Chad Blackman in leading off debate in the Upper House says the justice system must be more efficient.

He says such legislation is not only being adopted by Barbados.

Government Senator John King who rose in support of the Bill says the Legislation is long overdue.
