Government is moving to update a suite of laws aimed at modernising the country’s maritime legislation.
Minister of Tourism and International Transport Ian Gooding-Edghill, led off Debate on the five Merchant Shipping Bills in the Lower House this morning.
He says they are intended to address deficiencies identified by the International Maritime Organisation.
The establishment of the Maritime and Merchant Bank of Barbados is among the provisions in the Bill.
