The directors or corporate secretaries of companies who recently received questionnaires at their registered offices from the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO), are being asked to complete and submit them by next Saturday, December 31 or risk being penalised.
Acting Deputy Registrar at CAIPO, Casey Boyce tells CBC News in order to assist with the speedy administration of the process, and for convenience, “it is highly recommended” that the online version of the questionnaire be completed.
Ms. Boyce explained that the questionnaire has several questions about beneficial ownership, and aims to evaluate the adequacy of internal compliance systems and procedures within of companies.
It is also intended to ensure Barbados remains compliant with global standards.
The acting Deputy Registrar also talked about those entities that would not need to complete the questionnaire.
