Barbados Ambassador to Brazil Tonika Sealy-Thompson says the Barbados Language Centre plays a role in attracting people to these shores.
The Ambassador who is also on the board of the centre says being bilingual prepared her for the international role she now operates in.
She added that the ability of Barbadians to speak languages and teach English drives people here.
Principal of the Barbados Community College Annette Alleyne believes that teaching children another language from primary school can help in the country’s transformation.
Students were awarded for outstanding student French, German, Italian and Spanish, helpfulness, and deportment.
Most Outstanding first-year student was Jazz Watson and the Grace Pilgrim trophy for Best All-Round student was Shalisha Taylor.
