The newly formed Caribbean Association of Probation and Parole is seeking to get the re-offending rates across the region down.
Chairperson Cuthbert Henry says data has shown that when risk assessments are effectively done and implemented appropriately countries record a decline in re-offending.
Mr. Henry was speaking at the Probation Assessment Tools Workshop which seeks to improve the effectiveness of probation services.
Cluster Manager, Poverty, Governance and Monitoring Evaluation at the UNDP, Jason La Corbinière says the workshop also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 which promotes peace, justice and strong institutions by fostering a more transparent, equitable and effective justice system.
