As renewed emphasis is placed on the climate crisis, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) is working to ensure the agriculture sector contributes to reducing carbon emissions.
IICA, through a Caribbean Climate Responsive Agricultural Forum, has been examining the sector of various countries and their nationally determined contributions (NDCs) detailing what they will do to help meet the global goal agreed to in the Paris Agreement.
IICA Representative in Barbados Allister Glean, says the agricultural sector is one of the more at-risk to climate change.
International Specialist in Water and Soil Management and Climate Innovation at IICA, Dr. Chaney St. Martin says potential exists for countries to secure climate financing for the development of the agricultural sector.
