The roll out of a COVID-19 Vaccination Booster Programme has commenced in Barbados.
The booster programme however is being offered to people aged 70 and over, those who are immuno-compromised and who had received their second dose before the end of April.
This applies only to those who received the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine.
Frontline workers are also included.
Individuals who qualify can visit the Masonic Centre, at Salters, St. George, or any other vaccination site.
Speaking during a press conference this morning, Co-Coordinator of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme, Dr. Elizabeth Ferdinand says there are about 45,000 doses of AstraZeneca in stock that can accommodate first, second and booster shots.
Amid concerns about the effectiveness of the vaccines, Dr. Ferdinand says the country is trying to keep ahead of the coronavirus.
