Barbados fears the region will not meet its energy transition goals if countries are not integrated into the global supply chain.
Minister of Energy and Business, Senator Lisa Cummins says calls have been made for the international community to work more closely with small countries like Barbados.
She says pooled procurement for issues relating to energy will facilitate the transition.
Senator Cummins was among the panel discussions that followed the launch of the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Supplier and SME Programme.
CEO of CG United Insurance, Randy Graham says while solutions are sought to challenges brought by climate change, the private sector should not be left behind.
