Community drama programme to be rolled out

August 19, 2023

A community drama programme is being rolled out as part of Government’s effort to improve discipline among some members of the society.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley made the announcement last evening during a showcase of circus arts and technology skills by participants of a summer programme at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination.

The initiative was a collaborative effort between Canadian arts organisations, as well as the University of the West Indies, the Barbados Government and Blu Escape.

Prime Minister Mottley says it’s just one of the programmes targetting the arts which Government is doing.

With Government’s intervention, the programme was able to increase enrolment from 30 to 59 young people between the ages of 10 and 17.

While praising the marriage of arts and culture with technology, Minister of State in the Office of the Attorney General with responsibility for Crime Prevention Corey Lane, urged participants to see themselves as pioneers.
