There’s no Junior Kadooment this Crop Over but some of the island’s young people have still been able to get a taste of the event.
It came through the 2022 SigniaGlobe Junior Masquerade Project, hosted by the National Cultural Foundation (NCF).
The project culminated today, with a parade of the community bands that participated, at the Desmond Haynes Sports Complex in Holders Hill, St. James.
Scores of young people from the Haynesville Youth Group and other young people, along with a few parents, paraded around the playing field, and the nearby community with the help of a music truck and tuk band.
St. James South MP Sandra Husbands was also a part of the festivities.
Speaking to CBC News on the sidelines of the event, the NCF’s Chief Cultural Officer Andrea Wells talked about the significance of the SigniaGlobe Junior Masquerade Project.
