A limited edition commemorative coin has been issued to mark Barbados’ 55th Anniversary of Independence and transition to a Parliamentary Republic.
In a release, the Central Bank of Barbados noted that the coin is now available for purchase from the Bank’s Currency and Payments Oversight Department, at the cost of $200.
It says the sterling silver coin, which has a gold-plated finish on one side, is a unique collector’s item or an elegant gift to mark this historic occasion.
Each coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity stating that it is made of .999 fine silver and plated with 24kt gold.
The coins were minted by the Osborne Coinage Company in the US.
