As greater awareness is placed on the needs of the homeless this World Homeless Day, Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey is telling the country Government alone cannot address the issue of homelessness.
In his message, he says it requires collaboration of the many individuals and support organisations working together to resolve the issue.
He has commended these entities which he notes over the years have steadfastly provided meals, shelter, social care and accommodation to the homeless.
Minister Humphrey says Government has sought to alleviate homeless by setting up the Resilience and Reintegration Unit within his Ministry.
A National Task Force on Homelessness was also established.
He adds Government has also increased the subventions to non-governmental organisations by 21% to provide assistance to the vulnerable.
