June 20, 2024

The Ministry of Education has deemed yesterday’s meeting with the Barbados Union of Teachers and the teachers at the Wesley Hall Junior School as a success.

The meeting highlighted several areas of concern at the school, particularly the state of the flooring in the main hall, and part of the roof in the main building.

On Tuesday the Education Technical Management Unit (EMTU) conducted a walk-through of the compound and has made recommendations to start the repair process which is to begin this Friday.

The Ministry has also assured staff the school is on the list for summer work and other repairs.

The EMTU is creating a comprehensive schedule, which includes a more detailed walk-through by its members, and visits from senior Ministry officials for further communication with the school’s leadership and teaching staff.

The Ministry has also given its word that it will move swiftly to bring about the necessary changes.

Teachers have returned to teaching today after being satisfied with the solution presented.

The Ministry of Education thanks the teachers for being actively involved in the process as all parties remain committed to open and transparent communication in the interest of a quality teaching and learning experience.
