Barbados appears to be facing a worrying child abuse problem.
It is one of the issues raised during the start of today’s Estimates, where the focus has been on the Ministry of People Empowerment & Elder Affairs.
Minister Kirk Humphrey has provided figures to show the extent of the child abuse problem.
He says between 2019 and 2023 Barbados recorded more than two thousand cases.
Mr. Humphrey says it is clear a lot more needs to be done to protect the nation’s children, and it is for this reason he believes pending Child Protection legislation is critical.
