Canada helping efforts to build climate resilience

September 10, 2024

Canada is taking some action following the acknowledgement climate change is disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable countries.

It has pledged 5.3 billion dollars to help countries build resilience and donated a further 16 million dollars to establish the Loss and Damage Fund.

This is according to Senior International Assistance Officer at the High Commission of Canada in Barbados, Natalie Hutchinson.

She was speaking during the first ever Climate Finance Access Network Advisor Training Workshop to be held in Barbados.

Meanwhile Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment Senator Chad Blackman says there is a complexity in accessing climate finance.

However, he notes Barbados has taken significant steps to address threats faced, from advancing the renewable energy goals to championing initiatives like the Blue Green Bank and the Bridgetown Initiative.
