Barbados and other regional countries have been asked to step back up their COVID-19 surveillance.
Executive Director of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) Dr. Joy St. John says heightened vigilance is needed with several conferences and other events like the Cricket World Cup scheduled in the coming months.
She says it’s also necessary with the presence of the JN 1 and HV1 variants in CARICOM.
Dr. St. John notes the first six months of the year are going to be very busy and CARPHA will be stepping up its surveillance efforts as well.
