Barbados is among a group of World Trade Organisation members pressing for the WTO Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies to be implemented.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kerrie Symmonds stated the country’s position in a statement delivered during the 9th Global Review of Aid for Trade 2024 organised by the WTO.
For the agreement to be operational, two-thirds of WTO members have to deposit the instruments of acceptance at the WTO.
Ambassador to the United Nations, the WTO and other International Organisations, Matthew Wilson presented the instrument of ratification for the fisheries subsidies agreement to the Director General back in February.
