The Minister of Education has sounded a clarion call for more males to enter the teaching profession.
Minister Kay McConney made the comments during a press conference to announce this year’s common entrance results.
She says following interviews done for this year’s intake in the diploma in education at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, out of 27 candidates only one is male.
She says that traditionally there has been fewer males in the school system, even as guidance counsellors.
