As Barbados hosts the 2023 Caribbean Water Conference, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has called for greater regional cooperation on water management.
That two day high level meeting is organised by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Government of Barbados.
It opened this morning at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
In her address Ms. Mottley called for partnerships as majority of Caribbean countries are considered water scarce and face similar challenges.
Adding it makes sense to have a united approach, the Prime Minister suggests some of the existing agencies could be given mandates which allow them to deal with the water crises.
Additionally Ms. Mottley says there are some difficult decisions to be taken and changes needed pertaining to water management.
