The Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) has welcomed news of plans to introduce legislation to establish minimum standards for tourism and hospitality workers.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during her live Address to the Nation yesterday.
This follows months of contention between the BWU and the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA).
Reacting to the news, the General Secretary of the BWU Toni Moore, has hailed it as a victory, as she suggests it is the culmination of the Union’s Recipe for Respect Campaign.
Ms. Moore has vowed that the union will continue to advocate for workers.
