The Barbados Road Safety Association wants the proposal to allow only lawmen to respond to and investigate road traffic fatalities and serious accidents revisited.
President Roland Lowe says the public has greater confidence in reports from the Police.
He says the decision to have insurance personnel responding to minor road accidents will have a great impact on the motoring public.
At a press conference this week, Attorney General Dale Marshall said the new arrangement will be launched on September 15 to allow the Barbados Police Service to better manage its limited manpower resources.
Mr. Marshall says lawmen spend way too much time investigating minor accidents instead of dealing with more serious matters.
However, Mr. Lowe, a former police officer says initiatives should be put in place to attract more Barbadians to join the law enforcement agencies.
