BMS monitoring progress of Tropical Depression #7

September 12, 2024

The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of Tropical Depression #7 located near 17.8N, 34.6W at 11 a.m.

This is about 1200 km and 2820 km (or about 745 and 1750 miles) to the northeast and east respectively of Barbados.

Environmental conditions are conducive to the slow development of the system over the coming days.

Tropical Depression #7 is forecast to track northeast of Barbados into next week with no direct threat to the island.

However, the presence of the system in the region will bring periods of light wind speeds, uncomfortably warm days and heat stress into next week.

As the weather system moves northeast, light winds will persist and allow for localised afternoon showers throughout the coming days.

The public is encouraged to monitor official sources for further updates.

This information statement will be updated at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
