BMS monitoring a disorganised convection area

July 27, 2024

The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) says it is closely monitoring the progress of an area of disorganised convection near 9.5N,45W, about 1006 miles or 1620 km to the east-southeast of Barbados.

This convection is expected to pass to the north of Barbados around Wednesday or Thursday next week.

Over the next few days, the forecast environmental conditions do not favour significant development of the system.

However, as the system tracks north of the island, a reduction in windspeeds is expected.

This will result in uncomfortably warm days throughout the week along with some isolated afternoon shower activity.

However, no direct weather impacts are expected from this convection for Barbados.

There are currently no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados, however, the public is encouraged to monitor official sources over the coming days.

The next update will be tomorrow Sunday, July 28, 2024.
