A call has been made for education and behavioural change if we are to save the seas.
It came from Minister of Environment, National Beautification and the Blue and Green Economy, Adrian Forde.
At the opening of the 23rd Global Meeting of Regional Conventions and Action Plans of the United Nations Environment Programme, at Courtyard by Marriott today.
He said such meetings were birthed, based on a deep fundamental appreciation for the importance of coastal, land and marine responses to sustainable development and livelihoods.
Head of the Eco-systems Integration Division at the United Nations Development Programme, Johan Robinson said the convention will also give an update on the progress of the programmes and policies from the last meeting, as well as discuss the global biodiversity treaty introduced last year.
