As Barbadians seek to take advantage of deals, discounts and specials in the final lap week of shopping ahead of Christmas Day, they are being urged to exercise some measure of control and planning as they spend.
The advice from National Coordinator of the National Financial Literacy Programme David Simpson, during an interview with CBC News.
He says wisdom should also be exercised when buying food.
Mr. Simpson says Barbadians must also take a cautious approach when deciding to take on new debt by signing up for different loans at this time of year.
