The social compact introduced by Government and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry will not be reintroduced, despite concerns about the rising cost of food.
The BCCI’s President, James Clarke says they played their part when the compact was introduced two years ago.
However, following the renewal of the agreement, a poll was conducted and retailers said it was not sustainable, signalling its end.
Mr. Clarke says the chamber is working with the hopes of improving prices.
