A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Barbados.
The Barbados Meteorological Services says pockets of surface-to-low-level convergence aided by a marginally favourable upper-level pattern could trigger 1 to 2 inches of rainfall.
The Watch was issued due to the saturated nature of the earth and heavy to intense shower activity, which may result in some flooding this afternoon.
Possible Impacts:
- Runoff from higher elevations.
- Delays on traffic routes with some roads becoming impassable.
- Water settlements on roads and fields at the foot of hills and coastal roads.
- Increases in water levels of existing water bodies (e.g. ponds etc.).
The public should monitor official sources for further updates.
This Flash Flood Watch will be terminated at 6:00 p.m. today or sooner if conditions warrant.
