Barbados has strongly denounced the recent attack on the official residence of the Head of Mission of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Khartoum, Sudan, which resulted in extensive damage.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, says the unlawful attack on a diplomatic residence is a violation of international law as enshrined under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Under the Vienna Convention, diplomatic premises, including the official residences of accredited diplomats, are inviolable.
Barbados has joined with the international community in condemning the unlawful act and has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
In addition, the island has also called for an end to the suffering and loss of life inflicted on the people of Sudan.
