A local fire officer is pouring cold water on suggestions some grassfires are a result of spontaneous combustion.
Chief Admin Officer of the Bajan Fire Fighters Network, Glyne Alleyne, has been a firefighter for close to three decades.
He wants Barbadians to take fire safety more seriously, expressing concern the country experiences over a thousand grass fires each year.
Mr. Alleyne was addressing a meeting of the Barbados Labour Party’s City of Bridgetown branch.
With the Yuletide season fast approaching, he’s cautioning homeowners about external Christmas lights.
