For many years Barbadians have lamented the state of road conditions across the island.
However with several projects being undertaken to repair and rehabilitate the road network, some users are now able to breathe a sigh of relief.
CBC videographer Chris Wood traversed parts of the island and captured commuters driving on newly paved surfaces, that were in a state of disrepair for several years.
Among them, Carmichael Road in St. George, a major road artery which has been reconstructed under the Global Roads Project, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank.
The Ermie Bourne Highway and Highway 6 better known as Balls Park Road have also been rehabilitated, along with Vaughn’s Road #2 in St. Joseph, which forms part of the Chinese-funded Scotland District Road Rehabilitation Project.
Residents of St. Andrew are pleased that much of the infrastructural work has been completed and look forward to more being done to uplift the rural parish.
Officials are reminding motorists using that road from Barclays Park to Belleplaine that the area is still a construction zone and to observe the 30 kilometre per hour speed limit.
