Barbadians may soon have a chance to be able to consume locally grown rice.
This development was announced by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Terry Bascombe.
Speaking at the Barbados Agricultural Society Annual General Meeting, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Mr. Bascombe stated that through an agreement with the Chinese, farmers have been able to start growing rice locally.
Mr. Bascombe also announced that the country will soon harvest its first set of shrimp.
