The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) has issued 10, 000 demand notices for land tax arrears accumulated over a decade.
BRA is seeking to recover approximately $247 million in outstanding land tax, inclusive of penalties and interest.
The latest action follows the opportunity extended last year for people to possibly have interest waived on tax arrears.
Manager for Communication and Public Relations at BRA, Carolyn Williams-Gayle, told CBC News the authority remains open and committed to engaging with taxpayers, who have unpaid debt to establish terms for repayment.
