PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Police in Trinidad and Tobago said four men suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of a businesswoman, were shot and killed on Thursday, a few hours after she had been released near the Caroni Cremation Site in Central Trinidad.
Police told reporters that the men, who are yet to be identified were killed in St. Augustine, along the east-west corridor.
Deputy Police Commissioner Suzette Lewis, said officers went into the mountain valley village in St Augustine where they confronted the suspects who were “subsequently found lifeless”.
They said they had retrieved a pistol and an automatic rifle.
Briefing reporters on the release of Anisha Hosein-Singh, police said they believed she was released as the investigators closed in on the abductors.
Hosein-Singh, 27, was grabbed by three armed men on May 18 and forced into a vehicle while setting up for work in El Dorado shortly before 6.00 am (local time).
The getaway car was found abandoned several hours later in Maracas, St Joseph, east of here.
Police have not said whether a ransom had been paid for her release.
