Minister in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment Marsha Caddle, says government has been engaging local and international investors and the Bridgetown and Greater Carlisle Bay redevelopment is part of a holistic revisioning and new approach to physical development in Barbados.
She says seven sites deemed strategic reinvestment areas have been identified.
The Minister went on to say that Barbadians will be afforded the opportunity to play a part in the re-design of the Treasury Building.
Recent plans were announced by the Prime Minister to transform the city building into a mixed use facility.
At present, the property is home to the Barbados Revenue Authority.
Minister Caddle says government is working to make Bridgetown a smart city.
Meanwhile, realtor Sir Paul Altman said thousands of jobs along with hotel rooms are to be created once Barbados moves ahead with plans for manmade offshore islands.
He provided some insight into what to expect for one of the islands planned for the outskirts of the Bridgetown.
