2019

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Dr. Jerome Walcott, believes bilateral relations and cooperation between Barbados and Australia need to be strengthened and deepened.

He made this observation during a farewell courtesy call by Australian High Commissioner to Barbados, John Pilbeam, recently at the Ministry on Culloden Road, St. Michael.

Minister Walcott noted that some of the priority areas for Barbados were climate change, disaster preparedness and food security.

In turn, High Commissioner Pilbeam, who is accredited to 14 CARICOM countries and served in the region since 2016, stated that Australia is extremely interested in coastal and marine safety.

The outgoing envoy added that under his tour of duty, several legal seminars had been conducted by high ranking members of the Australian legal fraternity for judges, magistrates and lawyers in Barbados.
