The Health Minister says a number of issues have to be addressed, before two of the island's polyclinics can begin planned 24 hour operations.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Bostic, the decision which affects the Randal Phillips and Sir Winston Scott polyclinics, has been welcomed by Barbadians.
But he notes staffing is one of the areas to be rectified before the move becomes a reality.
The Minister also says government is taking the issue of mental health seriously.
He says government's commitment is seen in the services provided to citizens.
The issue of more funding for this area is also being considered.
