Governor General Dame Sandra Mason was the toast of the day as the St Catherine Anglican Church in St Philip recognised her elevation to the position of the Queen's representative in Barbados.
Among those in attendance during a community appreciation and thanksgiving service were, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart and members of his Cabinet and Calypsonian Red Plastic Bag.
Tributes were paid by the students of St Catherine Primary School as well as Carl Springer and Dame Selma Jackman.
Reverend David Yarde sees the Governor General as a source of inspiration and motivation for many.
And for the woman of the moment, Dame Sandra was moved by the recognition as the St Catherine Church was where she received her spiritual upbringing.
