Hotelier praise farm to fork

A local hotelier says a lot is possible when linkages are formed between the agricultural and tourism sectors.

General manager of Divi Southwinds Hotel, Alvin Jemmott says Barbados must be able to support the growth and development of the farming community and assist those who feed the nation and in turn reduce the island's food import bill.

Divi's Pure Ocean Restaurant is onboard once again for what is being seen as the premier farm-to-fork event of the Barbados Food and Rum Festival - the Dine Around programme and Rum and Things.

The programme was launched Wednesday.

The event previously known as Food Wine and Rum Festival now in its 9th edition will be held from October 18th to the October 21st.

Mr Jemmott says tourists travel thousands of miles to taste Barbadian food.
