BCCI discuss removal of NSRL

BCCI discuss removal of NSRL
03 Jul

Members of the local business community met Monday to discuss the impact of the removal of the National Social Responsibility Levy on businesses and consumers alike.

The meeting was chaired by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Following that meeting, the BCCI says those in attendance acknowledged that the removal of the NSRL will have differing implications for the various sectors that were affected by the levy.

However, in a statement, the Chamber also says that members also believe the removal of the NSRL has to be contextualised.

They say this is especially so in an environment where other operational costs such as shipping, fuel, supplier and other input costs may result in price movements that may impact the final cost of the goods after the removal of the levy.

The Chamber says the meeting recognised that the general public is expecting to see 'relief', as a result of the removal of the NSRL, and gave the commitment to remove the levy wherever it was applied.
