415 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Barbados

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory recorded 415 new COVID-19 cases (191 males and 224 females) on Monday, February 14, from the 1,844 tests conducted.

The positives consisted of 64 people under the age of 18, and 351 who were 18 years and older.

There were 138 people in isolation facilities, while 5,077 were in home isolation.

Three people died from the virus on Monday.  A 75-year-old unvaccinated man; an 80-year-old vaccinated woman, and an 84-year-old vaccinated man passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.

As at February 14, the virus had claimed 302 lives.

The public health laboratory has carried out 569,535 tests since February 2020, and recorded 52,310 COVID-19 cases (24,253 males and 28,057 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the total number of people with at least one dose is 159,561 (69.9 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of fully vaccinated individuals is 148,474 (54.8 per cent of the total population or 65 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those people who are 12 years and older.
