The Barbados Employers Confederation has confirmed it is preparing to meet with officials of the Barbados Workers Union.
This follows an announcement by BWU General Secretary Toni Moore earlier this week, that the Union had written to the BEC as well as the Barbados Private Sector Association, seeking a meeting.
According to Ms. Moore, the purpose of the meeting would be to impress on the two agencies the need for employers to treat their workers well, as she accused some of failing to provide even basic working conditions.
In a statement, Executive Director of the BEC, Sheena Mayers-Granville, suggested the majority of employers in Barbados are responsible and provide their employees with stable livelihoods.
