The man responsible for facilitating the delivery of the island’s first batch of COVID-19 vaccines has been conferred one of Barbados’ top awards.
Gurdip Bath was presented with the Honorary Order of the Republic by President Her Excellency the Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, during a ceremony at State House.
Mr. Bath played a role in facilitating the donation of 100,000 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines from India in February 2021, which kickstarted the national COVID-19 vaccine drive.
Bath, who is originally from India but has been a citizen of St. Kitts and Nevis for two decades, spoke to the media after the presentation.
Dame Sandra expressed appreciation on behalf of Barbadians.
