Hundreds gathered at the St. John Parish Church to bid farewell to the longest serving Principal of the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Sir Keith Hunte.
Among them were family, friends and other past and present UWI Principals.
Son, Dr. John Hunte says while his father is well known for his academic accomplishments, his loved ones will remember him as a committed family man who looked after his four children’s needs even when they became adults.
Delivering a tribute on behalf of UWI, Vice Chancellor Sir Hilary Beckles says Sir Keith will be remembered for his kindness, social warmth, and decency.
He says UWI has been a prime beneficiary of his professional values and leadership style.
Sir Keith, who served as Principal from 1983 to 2002, died on October 3 at age 87.
He was buried at the Church.
