State of the island’s schools being investigated

October 21, 2024

The state of the island’s school plants is the subject of an investigation tonight.

Chief Education Officer Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw made the revelation to members of the media on the sidelines of the Ministry’s Arts in Focus exhibition launch.

She says the comprehensive report which is being worked on by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Communications Specialist, along with the Education Technical Management Unit, will soon be completed.

Addressing the Barbados Labour Party’s Annual Conference this weekend, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley declared that by next year she wants to see schools beautified and looking like children should want to be there.

Meanwhile, Dr. Archer-Bradshaw says the Ministry continues to take swift action to work with principals, boards of management and teachers to resolve environmental issues at school plants whenever they arise.

Parkinson Memorial School, one of those institutions closed recently after a significant numbers of teachers stayed away over concerns about bed bugs and other issues, reopened today.
