England takes lead of Women’s CWC group ‘B’

The Windies were bumped down to second place in group ‘B’ of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup today by England, who defeated South Africa at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

South African Women opted to bat first and posted 124 for 6.

Led by skipper Laura Wolvaardt with 42, while player of the match Sophie Ecclestone took 2 for 15.

England Women replied with 125 for 3 in 19.2 overs to win by seven wickets and move to four points with a perfect 2-0 record.

The Windies, South Africa and Bangladesh all have two points from 1-1 records, but the Windies have the best net run rate of the group.

Tomorrow will see a top-of-the-table clash in group ‘A’, with Australia taking on New Zealand.
