KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 57-year-old prison inmate, who died at the hospital on Sunday, several days after he had been found unresponsive in his cell.
Police confirmed that Patrick Perry had been taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on September 21, where doctors found that he had extensive injuries to the ribs, lungs and head as well as a laceration to the kidney.
Media reports said that earlier this month, Perry had been found unresponsive in his cell and taken to the Annotto Bay Hospital.
He was later admitted to the KPH Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he died on Sunday.
Police said that the Independent Commission of Investigations has since launched an investigation into the matter.
