Co-Chair of the Barbados Childhood Obesity Prevention Coalition Nicole Griffith says a new snack and beverage list making the rounds on social media is part of keeping with the National Schools’ Nutrition Policy.
She says while the Coalition is a year and a half into a four year mandate to implement the policy, the drinks list is ideal while the snack list is not.
Ms. Griffith says this is their way of assisting parents and guardians with choosing healthier alternatives for children.
She adds initially there was a lot of resistance trying to implement healthier alternatives, but as time passed people have been contacting her to find out if new snacks are fit for purpose.
